Report: UFC to hold event at California tribal casino

UFC 249 is set to take place at the Tachi Palace Casino Resort, a tribal casino in Central California according to multiple reports.
By holding the event on tribal lands, the UFC would be able to circumvent the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC), which ruled that the state will hold no authorized sporting events this month as it responds to COVID-19.
The CSAC told the New York Times in a statement: “The commission will not participate in the UFC event on April 18, regardless of the event location.”
UFC President Dana White previously said that he was working on securing a private island for future fights.
Tachi Palace Casino Resort has been temporarily closed since 20 March.
