Mississippi February sports betting revenue falls 25%

Mississippi casinos earned $2.1m of sports betting revenue for February, a year-on-year decline of 25%.
Revenue also fell 54% from January, when the state took in $4.6m.
February handle amounted to $34m, a year-on-year increase of 37%. Win percentage for the month dropped to 6%.
Mississippi’s coastal region casinos led the way with $955,000 of revenue, despite a low win percentage of 4%.
Basketball produced the majority of coastal revenue, offsetting a loss of $452,000 in football. Coastal casinos brought in handle of $23m for the month.
Meanwhile, Central casinos earned $619,000 of revenue from handle of $4.4m.
Basketball edged out sports parlay cards as the most profitable ticket for the central region, which posted a win percentage of 14%.
Northern casinos earned $531,000 of revenue, with handle reaching $7.6m. Sports parlay cards and basketball produced the highest revenue.
Mississippi casinos shut down Monday night amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Mississippi Gaming Commission said casinos will remain closed until further notice.
According to a 2014 American Gaming Association survey, Mississippi casinos employ 23,000 people and produce $831m in wages, a figure that has likely increased since.
