At long last, Arizona man collects $229,000 jackpot following slot error
Robert Taylor, who won the considerable amount of money, was left none the wiser following a slot malfunction.
After several long weeks of searching, the winner of $229,000 from a slot machine has finally been located.
Robert Taylor, a resident of the state of Arizona, was left unaware that he had won this hefty prize following a communication error from the slot machine in use. Before the error could be rectified, Taylor returned home, without his prize.
However, the diligent operators at Las Vegas’ Treasure Island Hotel & Casino were not content to leave him without his prize. So, after a number of failed attempts to identify Taylor, the casino recruited the help of the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB).
After the NGCB put its agents to work, surveillance footage, interviews and purchase records allowed Taylor to be found. Finally, on January 28, he was presented with his winnings, totalling $229,368.
“I commend the agents of the Enforcement Division, particularly Agent Dan Nuqui, for ensuring that the public trust in the gaming industry remains strong by spending countless hours over two weeks to ensure that a patron is awarded winnings owed to him,” commented James Taylor, Chief of the NGCB’s Enforcement Division.
“I’d also like to thank the Nevada Transportation Authority for their assistance in confirming the identity of the patron. This has been a great example of the government working together for the benefit of the public.”
