Pennsylvania January sports betting revenue soars to $23m
Pennsylvania sportsbooks earned January revenue of $23m, up 101% from December despite overall handle increasing by just 2%.
The Keystone State took in $348m in sports betting handle last month as football season slowed to a halt.
The FanDuel Sportsbook at Valley Forge Casino Resort accounted for 45% of the state’s sports wagering handle ($156m) and 35% of revenue ($8m).
Online sports betting accounted for $7.7m of Valley Forge’s revenue.
Rivers Casino Philadelphia was the only sportsbook to earn over $1m in retail revenue. Rivers finished runner-up to Valley Forge in overall revenue with $3.3m.
Four other casinos earned seven-figures in sports wagering revenue last month including the DraftKings sportsbook at Meadows Racetrack, which brought in $3m.
Pennsylvania’s total gaming revenue for January rose to $303m, up 17% year-on-year.
Parx Casino in northeast Philadelphia led the way with $58m of revenue mostly from slots and table games.
Wind Creek Bethlem earned the second highest monthly revenue with $38m, down 3% year-on-year.
Valley Forge, with a 92% year-on-year growth, posted the largest increase of any Pennsylvania casino. The casino brought in $22m in total revenue last month.
February could be a down month for Pennsylvania sportsbooks, who combined to lose $3.3m on the Super Bowl.
