‘Bachelor’ contestant accused of colluding to win DraftKings $1m prize
A former contestant from The Bachelor is under scrutiny for possibly colluding with her husband to win DraftKings’ “Millionaire Maker” NFL wild-card contest over the weekend.
Jade Roper-Tolbert won the $1m prize after one of her lineups placed first out of 105,000 entries.
The contest required players to submit a roster of eight players and a team defense/special teams.
Tolbert and her husband Tanner each submitted a maximum 150 lineups into the contest. 298 of their 300 combined lineups were unique in makeup.
This immediately drew scrutiny from other contestants, who accused the couple of colluding with another to increase their odds of winning.
Tanner Tolbert is a well-known DFS player.
DraftKings’ community guidelines state: “Team-building complementary lineups which serve to work together and executing a strategy that may create any unfair advantage over individual play.”
The company is withholding payout to the Tolberts while it investigates the couple for collusion.
This is not the first time that DraftKings contestants have come under fire for possibly working together to win a big prize.
In September 2016, DraftKings investigated DFS player Martin Crowley of collusion with his brother after Crowley won a $1m prize.
Crowley was eventually cleared of wrongdoing and awarded his prize.
