Global Payments joins AGA’s responsible sports betting campaign
Company will get out message via social media, customer marketing.
Global Payments, Inc., a worldwide provider of payment technology and software solutions, is the newest partner of the American Gaming Association’s “Have A Game Plan. Bet Responsibly” public service campaign.
The AGA announced its partnership with Global Payments as part of Responsible Gaming Education Week, which is taking place September 19 to 25 this year.
The two parties said Global Payments will incorporate Have A Game Plan into its social media channels and customer-facing marketing.
Global Payments said it also will communicate the importance of responsible gaming awareness through its extended weekly blog series.
According to the AGA, the Have A Game Plan campaign promotes four core principles of responsible sports betting: set a budget and stick to it, keep betting social, know the odds, and play with trusted, regulated operators.
Sports betting now is legal in 32 states and the District of Columbia, with 27 jurisdictions already operational. The AGA noted more than 111m American adults can bet legally in their state.
The AGA said its Responsible Gaming Education Week educates consumers on the importance of playing responsibly, highlighting responsible gaming’s central role in sports betting and the industry at large.
The trade group launched Have A Game Plan in late 2019 to educate sports fans on the principles of responsible sports betting. The AGA said Global Payments joins campaign partners across the sports betting landscape, including DraftKings, FanDuel, Monumental Sports and Entertainment, NASCAR, the New York Jets, NHL, PGA Tour, SeventySix Capital, Sightline Payments, Sinclair Broadcast Group, UFC, Vegas Golden Knights, and Washington Football Team.
“Global Payments is deeply committed to responsible gaming, and this is why we are proud to join the Have A Game Plan initiative to promote responsible sports wagering,” Global Payments president Christopher Justice said in a statement. “Our success depends on continuing to build strong relationships with our customers that are rooted in education and responsibility.”
AGA president and CEO Bill Miller (pictured) added: “With more Americans able to wager legally than ever before, the gaming industry is committed to making responsibility a key component of the legal sports betting market. Digital payments provide new tools for responsible gaming and through Global Payments’ partnership, their customers can have a fun, responsible, and seamless betting experience.”
The American Gaming Association is a national trade group representing the $261 billion US casino industry, which supports 1.8m jobs nationwide. AGA members include commercial and tribal casino operators, suppliers, and other entities affiliated with the gaming industry.
