Nevada gaming regulators accuse Station Casinos of accepting improper bets

The Nevada Gaming Control Board filed its complaint on September 13.

The regulator claims the casino accepted 348 bets through its Stadium Live mobile betting platform after outcomes had been determined. This took place over the course of three years.

The complaint was filed by the Nevada Gaming Control Board on September 13 and was signed by all three Control Board members and a legal prosecutor for the Nevada Attorney General’s office.

Specifically, the complaint claims the operator failed to address errors it was aware of “related to insufficient server memory” for its sports betting app. The claim highlights June 2018, January 2019 and March 2019 as key periods. The regulator has accused Station Casinos of accepting 35 bets on five events after their outcomes had been decided. A further 116 bets were reportedly made in January 2019 and another 30 in March of the same year. 

This is not the first time this apparent infringement has been raised. In December 2019 the Nevada Gaming Commission stated that Station Casinos needed to “have redundant monitoring processes to ensure it does not accept” bets on already concluded sporting events.

From Station Casinos’ perspective, the operator claims it was a system malfunction that led to the 167 tickets, and that the company voided and refunded the tickets when notified.

It is still undetermined whether the casino operator will face legal or disciplinary action regarding these infringements.
