Nevada, Las Vegas Strip set all-time gaming win records in July

Nevada casinos generated win of $1.36bn in July, setting a new state record.
July’s revenue total easily broke the previous record of $1.23bn set in May. July marked the fifth straight month that statewide casino win topped $1bn.
Revenue was up 14.2% from June, signaling that post-pandemic travel demand continued to rise even as the state dealt with an increase in Covid-19 cases last month.
Statewide slot win was $874m while table games generated $486m.
The Las Vegas Strip set an all-time revenue record as well, taking in $794m. Strip win was up 46.5% from the same month in 2019.
Strip table win was $384m, led by baccarat which netted casinos $158m, up more than 114% from the same month two years ago. Baccarat is very popular among international gamblers, which indicates the Strip saw a big rise in visitors from around the world in July.
“July was a perfect storm for gaming win in terms of special events, the month having five weekends, Resorts World’s first full month of operations, and a very unusual baccarat month,” said Michael Lawton, senior research analyst for the Nevada Gaming Control Board “This, of course, is in addition to the contributing factors we have discussed in previous months, which include demand, return of leisure travel, and healthy consumers due to stimulus.”
Strip slot revenue was $198m, an increase of 7.8% from July 2019.
Downtown Las Vegas reported $71.2m in win, slightly off June’s all-time record of $79m but still a 35.5% improvement from the same month two years prior.
