Iowa sports betting revenue rises for October
Iowa sportsbooks took in $5.7m in October revenue, up from $4.9m the prior month.
The state saw its October sports wagering handle increase $8m month-to-month with a haul of $46.5m.
October marked the second full month of legalized sports betting in the Hawkeye State.
Land-based sports wagering provided $3m of the state’s October revenue.
The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission counts 19 licensed casinos that offer sports wagering. Only seven of those locations offered online betting in October.
The William Hill online sportsbook at Prairie Meadows Racetrack & Casino accounted for
$1.5m of the state’s revenue. Prairie Meadows earned another $200,000 at its retail sportsbook.
Ameristar Casino Hotel placed second in revenue with $467,000 all coming from its land-based operation. The casino is owned by Penn National Gaming.
Horseshoe Casino Council Bluffs came in a virtual tie for second with its land-based sportsbook providing $467,000 of revenue.
Diamond Jo Worth Casino in Dubuque earned $404,000 at its land-based sportsbook.
With three of Iowa’s top four earning casinos operating without a mobile offering, there appears plenty of opportunity for growth in the state heading forward.
