Boyd, FanDuel to bring Stardust gaming brand to New Jersey, Pennsylvania
Sportsbook operator will rename its Betfair Casino to the iconic brand.
Boyd Gaming Corporation and FanDuel Group on Monday said they intend to bring Stardust-branded online casinos to New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
The two companies said the plan is to launch in April, pending approvals from state regulators.
If all approvals are granted, FanDuel said it would rebrand its Betfair Casino in New Jersey to the Stardust brand.
The Stardust Casino app will be available for iOS and Android in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
The companies said Stardust Casino will be built on FanDuel’s proprietary front-end, apps and player account management system, while the Pennsylvania and New Jersey online casinos will be linked to Boyd Gaming’s B Connected player loyalty program.
The app will feature several casino games, including slots, blackjack, roulette, video poker and baccarat, as well as live dealer games.
The original Stardust Hotel and Casino opened on the north end of the Las Vegas Strip in 1958. At the time it was the world’s largest hotel.
Boyd Gaming bought the resort in 1985. It closed in 2006 and was imploded in 2007.
In 2013 Boyd sold the site (which soon will be home to Resorts World Las Vegas), but the company kept ownership of the Stardust brand.
The “Tangiers Hotel and Casino” seen in the 1995 movie Casino was, in reality, the Stardust.
