Virginia casino revenue increases 31.9% for June 2025

The Virginia Lottery has released the state’s casino activity throughout June 2025, as the three properties which report to the regulator combined to generate close to $78.5m in adjusted gross revenue (AGR) for the period, representing an increase of 31.9% year-over-year.
Caesars Virginia, which officially opened its permanent casino in December 2024, generated the highest AGR of any property in Virginia, reporting a total of $30.6m throughout the period. The figure was primarily driven by slot play, as Caesars Virginia reported a slot AGR of $23.1m compared to $7.5m for table games.
Virginia law also assesses a graduated tax on casino’s AGR, resulting in $14.1m being contributed toward the state’s Gaming Proceeds Fund, nearly $4m higher than the payment sent in June 2024.
Of the state tax on casino AGR, the statute specifies distributions to the Problem Gambling Treatment and Support Fund, the Family and Children’s Trust Fund and the host city of each Virginia casino.

Hard Rock Bristol and Rivers Casino Portsmouth each increased its revenue from the prior year period, growing by 49.4% and 2%, respectively, for AGRs of $21.4m and close to $26.5m for June 2025. Rivers casino Portsmouth witnessed over $18.6m of AGR generated through slot play, while Hard Rock Bristol reported $17.2m of revenue from the gaming type.
On June 27, Aristocrat Interactive and Inspired Entertainment partnered with NeoPollard Interactive to launch its virtual sports iLottery games with the Virginia Lottery. The draw-based games, otherwise known as ‘Vsports,’ will be exclusive to Virginia Lottery players, granting residents access to football, basketball and horseracing Vsports.
