Iowa sports betting handle reaches $168.1m in June

The Iowa Gaming Commission has published its gaming revenue report for the month of June. The state’s casinos reported $136.9m in adjusted gross revenue (AGR) last month.

Total table revenue in June reached $12.8m, while revenue produced by slot games around the state total $124.1m.

Casino revenue last month contributed nearly $26m in state taxes, and almost $0.6m in local taxes.

The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission has also released its June sports betting results. The commission posted a nearly $168.1m statewide sports betting handle last month.

Iowa’s monthly handle rose by close to $22m when compared to what the state reported a year ago.

Internet net receipts during the month reached $18.3m, while total net receipts reached close to $19.2m.

Last month, 19 operators took online bets from Iowa players, accounting for a total internet sports betting handle of close to $158.9m.

Players statewide walked away with $149m in winnings in the month of June. Almost $140.5m of those wins came from wagers that were placed online.

Last month, sports wagering in Iowa contributed more than $1.3m in taxes.

To date, 38 states, as well as the District of Columbia have legalized sports wagering since the US Supreme Court lifted the federal ban on the practice in May 2018.
