New Hampshire: Casino Salem celebrates Phase One opening

The Sopranos star Steve Schirripa placed the first wager.

Casino Salem has welcomed its first guests after completing Phase One of its multi-phase opening schedule. To mark the occasion, the destination held a ribbon-cutting ceremony, with Co-Owners Joe Faro and Sal Lupoli present.

Other notable guests included leadership from the community and Cordish Gaming Group President Rob Norton. Actor Steve Schirripa, known for his role as Bobby Baccalieri on The Sopranos, placed the first bet.

“By opening the casino in phases, we can expedite the addition of charitable gaming to the entertainment and tourism assets that Salem has to offer in addition to generating contributions to organizations in need,” said Jeff Favre, Executive VP of Casino Salem.

“The Mall at Rockingham Park, along with Tuscan Village, already draw visitors from throughout New England, and the addition of Casino Salem will add another dynamic attraction.”

The newest edition to the New England casino scene is the first charitable gaming facility in Salem with historical horseracing games, the company said.

Casino Salem’s first phase will offer its patrons other amenities that include service food offerings and a full bar, as well as poker and traditional table games on the casino floor.

City of Salem Town Manager Joe Devine commented, “We welcome Casino Salem to our community. This project represents a significant investment in the future of Salem and the greater Southern New Hampshire region. It will bring jobs, spur economic growth, support local charities, and help further establish Salem as a premier destination for entertainment, dining, and innovation.
