Massachusetts casino GGR for March 2025 decreases 5.4% year-over-year

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission has released the state’s casino and sports wagering revenue throughout March 2025, with a combined total of $157.2m in gross gaming revenue (GGR) representing a decrease of just 0.1% year-over-year.
Casino GGR fell by 5.4% year-over-year, having generated $105.1m during March 2025, while sports wagering revenue increased by 12.7% from the prior year period for a total of $52.1m. Online sports betting generated the vast majority of sports wagering revenue during March 2025, accounting for nearly $51.9m throughout the period.
Encore Boston Harbor generated the highest casino revenue total of any property located within the state, accounting for just over $63m during March 2025, nearly $40m of which was generated through slots. MGM Springfield produced $25.5m of GGR from its casino during March 2025, while Plainridge Park Casino managed to generate $16.5m during the period.
In total, slots GGR represented $76.6m of the total casino revenue reported by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, while table games accounted for the remaining $28.5m. The total handle for sports wagering was reported to be $772.5m, creating a 7.02% revenue hold for operators throughout the period.
For retail sports wagering, Encore Boston Harbor managed to generate a handle of $5.6m, while MGM Springfield and Plainridge Park Casino accounted for handles of $1.6m and $3.3m, respectively, during March 2025. DraftKings reported the highest online handle of any operator active within the state, generating $375.2m and a GGR of $28.4m throughout the period.

FanDuel generated an online sports wagering handle of $208.4m in Massachusetts during March 2025, leading to a GGR of $13.8m for the operator. The next highest handle was reported to come from BetMGM at $72.1m, while Fanatics maintained its presence in the state with a handle of $48.3m.
The two generated GGRs of nearly $4.1m and $2.1m, respectively, throughout March 2025, while ESPN Bet took home $1.5m and Caesars sportsbook produced an additional $1.7m.
