Fairmount Park to expand with casino addition

Illinois professional horse racing track Fairmount Park & Racing has unveiled plans to add a casino to the property.

Once completed, this will make the venue the first racino in the state.

Fairmount Park will also add 271 slot machines, as well as 40 premium games to the casino floor.

VP of US Gaming and General Manager Vince Gabbert, Sr. said, “Soon, folks will be able to come in and enjoy the casino as well as racing here at the track.

“We’ve brought in the best slot machines and electronic table games on the market. Every game on the floor is either brand-new or a fan favorite, making for an exciting selection.”

Accel Entertainment plans to invest $85m to $95m in improvements to the horceracing experience and in casino facilities.

The project will be completed in two phases. The first will be a temporary casino space, placed in the grandstand, with the second as a full-size casino.

Gabbert commented, “The initial Racing Day will be April 22, and we’ll race every Tuesday and Saturday from April 22 to November 1, 2025.

“We’re very excited about the racing product and the new casino buildout that’s taking place in our grandstand.”

Fairmount Park said it is continuing to offer opportunities for part-time and full-time jobs. The company said it will hire over 200 permanent employees for roles that include security officers, cage cashiers and slot attendants.
