Pennsylvania regulator issues $81,575 in fines

These were against Presque Isle Downs & Casino operator PID, LLC.
Key Points
- The board reported that three patrons left minors unattended while gambling
- Fines issued were for not filing a license application on time and having less than an approved number of slot machines and the gambling floor
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) has approved two consent agreements from the Office of Enforcement Counsel (OEC), which resulted in $81,575 of total fines issued.
Presque Isle Downs & Casino operator PID, LLC received both fines. The first was a $50,000 fine for “having less than the approved number of active slot machines on the floor.” The second fine totaled $31,575 and was brought against the company for “failure to timely file a Principal License application.”
The control board also denied nine people requests for removal from the regulator’s self-exclusion list.
Self-exclusion lists are put in place to prevent people from entering casinos within the state or participating in gambling activities through Pennsylvania’s legal iGaming sites.
The regulator said it took action against three individuals “who left a minor or minors unattended while gambling in a Pennsylvania casino.”
The control board said a male patron “left a 5-year-old unattended in a vehicle in the valet parking lot at Rivers Casino Philadelphia for 12 minutes as he attempted to conduct financial business in the casino.”
Another male patron gambled on slot machines at Wind Creek Casino for 45 minutes while “leaving a 10-year-old unattended in a vehicle with the windows rolled up and engine not running in the parking garage.”
The temperature outside was 90 degrees, the regulator said.
A female patron was denied removal from the control board’s exclusion list for leaving three minors unattended in the car for one hour and 41 minutes while she gambled inside Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course.
The PGCB said, “Actions such as these to deny statewide gambling privileges serve as a reminder that adults are prohibited from leaving minors unattended in the parking lot or garage, a hotel, or other venues at a casino since it creates a potentially unsafe and dangerous environment for the children.”
