Maryland casino revenue falls by $1.5m year-over-year for January 2025

Maryland Lottery and Gaming has released the state’s casino revenue for January 2025, reporting a total of $151.8m which represents a decrease of nearly $1.5m year-over-year. Casino gaming contributions from the six properties that report revenue to Maryland Lottery and Gaming were $63.7m during January 2025, managing to increase by 0.8% from the prior year period.
MGM National Harbor once again led the way in revenue generated for the state’s six casinos, reporting a total of almost $67.6m and increasing by 2.3% year-over-year. The property has over 2,200 slot machines and 211 table games, with $38.8m of its January 2025 revenue having been generated from video lottery terminals (VLTs).
Hollywood Casino and Rocky Gap Casino were the two other properties in Maryland to report increases in revenue year-over-year, as Hollywood Casino generated just over $6.6m for a rise of 1%. Rocky Gap Casino reported the lowest revenue total of any property at $3.3m, but still managed to increase by 3.8% from the prior year period.
Live! Casino & Hotel generated the second most revenue of any property in Maryland, having reported a total of over $55.1m but decreasing by 2.9% year-over-year. Horseshoe Casino represents the first real drop-off in revenue generated, seeing $13.4m throughout January 2025 and decreasing 7.8% from the prior year period.

Ocean Downs Casino reported the smallest decrease in casino revenue year-over-year, only falling by $394k and reporting $5.7m during January 2025. Casino gaming revenues in Maryland help to support the state’s Education Trust Fund as well as the communities and jurisdictions in which the properties are located.
Throughout January 2025, VLTs accounted for nearly $100.6m of the state’s total casino revenue, while table games generated the remaining $51.2m. VLT revenue increased by 2.3% year-over-year, while table game revenue decreased by 6.8% from the prior year period.
