Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has reappointed Deidre A. Lambert-Bounds to serve on the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB).
Bounds first took a seat on the board in July 2021 and finished her first term at the end of last month. Her second term will expire December 31, 2028.
The regulator said in a statement, “This reappointment reaffirms the governor’s confidence in Lambert-Bounds’ dedication, integrity, and invaluable contribution to the agency’s mission of ensuring a fair and transparent gaming environment.”
MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams said that the board is excited to welcome Lambert-Bounds.
He commented, “Board member Lambert-Bounds has consistently demonstrated exceptional commitment and insight in regulating Michigan’s gaming industry, and we are thrilled to have her continue as a vital part of our Board.
“This reappointment is a testament to her unwavering dedication to upholding the highest standards of integrity and fairness.”
In other regulatory news, the MGCB recently announced that two individuals connected to a Flint storefront casino operation have been sentenced.
Linos Antonio Kas-Mikha, 52, of Grand Blanc, and Robert Jamerson, 55, of Saginaw, recently appeared in 7th Circuit Court in Genesee County for sentencing, after both pleading guilty to one count of conducting a gambling operation without a license.
MGCB further outlined the outcome by saying, “As part of their guilty pleas, three additional felony charges were dismissed against both defendants, including two counts of using computers to commit a crime and one count of maintaining a gambling house for profit.”
Judge Elizabeth A. Kelly presided over the hearing.
Both Kas-Mikha and Jamerson received sentences of 12 months of probation. However, Kas Mikha was also ordered to pay fines, fees and court costs that totaled $1.448.
