Nebraska receives over $29.1m in gaming tax for 2024

The Nebraska Gaming Commission has reported that the state’s four casinos have generated over $29.1m in gaming tax throughout 2024. The Commission collects taxes from WarHorse Gaming in Lincoln and Omaha, Grand Island Casino & Resort and Harrah’s Columbus.
Taxes are split amongst the State General Fund, Compulsive Gamblers Assistance Fund, Property Tax Credit Cash Fund as well as shares for the city and county. The Property Tax Credit Cash Fund was given the highest split of the gaming taxes, reported to have collected nearly $20.4 during the year.
WarHorse Gaming Lincoln generated the highest gaming tax amount of the four casinos, having been reported to share nearly $11.9m throughout 2024. Grand Island Casino & Resort contributed nearly $7.1m during the year, while WarHorse Gaming Omaha managed to report almost $6.6m in gaming taxes.
Harrah’s Columbus contributed the lowest tax amount for 2024 at just under $3.7m, but the property was only fully launched to guests on May 17, 2024. The opening of the Caesars Race & Sportsbook at Harrah’s Columbus marks the first time Caesars Sportsbook has accepted sports wagers in Nebraska.

During the year, both the State General Fund and Compulsive Gamblers Assistance Fund saw just over $728.4k in gaming taxes, while the city’s share amounted to nearly $3.6m. The county’s share was reported by the Commission to have seen just over $3.7m, with WarHorse Gaming Lincoln generating the highest gaming tax share for its county at $1.5m.
November remained as the highest grossing month in terms of gaming tax despite a late push in December. In December, the four casinos combined to generate nearly $3.6m, but November achieved over $3.7m in gaming tax from the properties.
