Baha Mar details new expansion plans for a fourth resort

The property will be designed by architecture firm Foster and Partners.
Key Points
- Baha Mar and the government of the Bahamas signed its Heads of Agreement, approving the project to move forward with construction
- The resort has a projected opening date of 2029 and will join Baha Mar’s “luxury of choice” collection
Baha Mar has announced expansion plans for a fourth resort projected to be opened in 2029 and set to be placed on 12 acres of beachfront land in Cable Beach. On October 17, Baha Mar and the government of the Bahamas signed its Heads of Agreement, which granted approval for the property to move forward with the construction phase.
“Baha Mar is committed to creating spectacular experiences, and this $350m capital investment in our world-class resort collection underscores Baha Mar’s role as a catalyst for continued economic growth and job creation in the Bahamas,” Baha Mar President Graeme Davis said.
“We are grateful to the government of the Bahamas for their continued support and our collaborative partnership in bringing this new development to life.”
The new resort will be designed by international architecture firm Foster and Partners while featuring approximately 350 rooms and 50 branded residences. It will be built on the site of the recently demolished Melia Nassau Beach, which closed in 2021 with a promise to invest and develop further Baha Mar experiences.
“Baha Mar is a valued partner, consistently delivering transformative projects that boost tourism and economic development for the Bahamas,” Bahamas Prime Minister Philip Davis said.
“This latest expansion will be highly significant for our country, creating local jobs, supporting tourism growth and offering new experiences for both residents and visitors.”

The new resort is expected to employ around 400 Bahamian workers during the construction phase, and over 500 Bahamian associates upon completion and opening.
The brand and operating partner of the new resort will be announced at a later date as stated by the announcement.
