Missouri casinos generate $150m in September revenue

Revenue during the month fell both month-over-month and year-over-year.

The Missouri Gaming Commission has released its September results for the state’s casinos.
During the month of September, the state’s casinos brought in a collective total of nearly $150m in adjusted gross revenue (AGR).
Last month’s results reflected a decrease of nearly 5.4% or $8m in revenue when compared to totals posted a year ago.
The state reported a decline in revenue month-over-month as well. Casino review fell by 8.2% when compared to August’s results.
Ameristar St. Charles took the win for the largest earnings for the month of September. The casino posted a total revenue of almost $23.6m.
River City followed close behind to grab the second-place spot in September. Its revenue for the month reached close to $20.4m.
River City barely beat out Hollywood to earn its rank at number two for the month, surpassing Hollywood’s revenue by more than $100,000.

Hollywood reported a September revenue of almost $20.3m.
The state has posted a year-to-date AGR of nearly $468m. However, this year’s running total is down by 3% when compared to last year’s AGR total.
Missouri’s casinos contributed a combined total of $31.5m to the state in taxes last month.
Missouri voters will have the chance in November to pull the lever for statewide legalized sports betting. Amendment 2, which could bring sports betting to the state, will be on the ballot, due to reaching the required number of signature in six congressional districts.
After weeks of debate regarding whether a petition to put the issue on the upcoming ballot was valid, Missouri Judge Daniel Green, a Circuit Court Judge in Cole County recently struck down an attempt to invalidate the petition.
Should voters say yes to statewide sports betting, Missouri will become the 39th state to open a regulated market.
Missouri’s current law allows the Gaming Commission to distribute gaming 13 licenses. However, these can only go to gaming facilities that are located on the Missouri River and Mississippi River.
In addition to legalized sports betting, voters will have a say in whether a new casino is welcome near Lake of the Ozarks.
