Culinary Union reaches tentative contract agreement with Venetian and Palazzo Las Vegas

This would mark the first time in 25 years that hospitality workers at Venetian and Palazzo will operate under a union contract.
Culinary Union Local 226 has reportedly agreed to a tentative contract with the Venetian and Palazzo Las Vegas hotels for over 4,000 hospitality workers. Workers will now have to vote to ratify the contract, said the Union, with that vote expected to be scheduled soon.
“Congratulations to Venetian and Palazzo workers on winning their first-ever union contract,” Culinary Union Local 226 said at the time of announcement.
The approval of the contract would mark the first time in 25 years of operation that hospitality workers at Venetian and Palazzo would operate under a union contract.
Kimbro, a Culinary Union member and housekeeper at the Venetian and Palazzo, expressed excitement over the potentially historic move, having said, “I’m so ecstatic right now! We made it happen! We got a first time contract at the Venetian.”
On May 24, 2024, the Union responded unfavorably to Virgin Hotels Las Vegas’ “last, best and final offer” following a series of failed negotiations between the two parties. The current contract between Virgin Hotels Las Vegas and the Union expired over one year ago. Since then, attempts to negotiate a new contract have failed to end in positive results.
Culinary Union Local 226 Secretary and Treasurer, Ted Pappageorge, also appeared on a Gaming America Huddle episode to discuss the possibility of a strike in Las Vegas.
Pappageorge stated during the episode that while “nobody wants a strike in Las Vegas,” the Union would be “ready for one” if matters came to that conclusion.
Dating back to 2023, the Union has successfully negotiated new contracts with other casino resorts throughout Las Vegas, including MGM, Caesars and Wynn.
