PGCB adds seven people to iGaming involuntary exclusion list
The Board made the decision following a thorough investigation into potential fraud.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) has approved placing seven individuals on the iGaming Involuntary Exclusion List at the recommendation of its Office of Enforcement.
The Board’s Bureau of Investigations and Enforcement investigated online transactions of seven individuals that totaled $27,168.
Several of the incidents involved creating fictitious accounts that used other people’s information to withdraw funds ranging from $300 to $12,600.
The Bureau found these transactions to be “fraudulent in two major respects.”
The first pertained to a person who “used a fraudulent scheme to obtain an online account or accounts in another person’s name and identifiers, placed funds into these accounts utilizing other persons’ payment methods, and without engaging in any gaming activity, managed to have funds withdrawn from the fraudulently established account or accounts directly into their own bank account.”
The second involved someone “requesting and receiving a refund for a disputed credit or debit card transaction from a card issuer even though that refund was fraudulent.”
The Control Board summarized its response to the recent investigation by saying, “The Board’s actions in these matters stem from its commitment to keep individuals who have committed fraud from gaming online in Pennsylvania.
“The additions made today bring to 37 the total number of individuals who are currently on the iGaming Involuntary Exclusion List.”
In other regulatory news, the PGCB has rescheduled a previously canceled meeting that was set for June 27. The hearing to determine whether Wind Creek Bethlehem will be awarded a Category 2 slot machine operator license was moved to July 31.
The hearing is open to the public and will take place at Bethlehem City Hall. The meeting will start at 10:30AM local time.
During the upcoming meeting, the board will also open the floor for those who would like to make public comments.
