WSOP Main Event sets second consecutive entrant record

The 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event has once again surpassed its all-time attendance record by officially welcoming 10,112 entrants for the 55-year old event. The new record was set just one year after the 17-year record was broken in 2023 with a field of 10,043 entrants.

The 2024 WSOP Main Event set a single-day entrants record on July 6 when 5,014 entrants joined the field to help generate what is now the largest prize pool in live tournament poker history.

“10,000 entrants has become the new magic number for the WSOP Main Event,” WSOP Executive Director Ty Sewart said. 

“The response has been overwhelming since our move to the Las Vegas Strip. Thank you to our partners, team members and, most of all, the players for another unforgettable summer.”

This year’s Final Table of nine players will each play for possible payouts of $1m or more, including $10m for first place, $6m for the runner-up and even $1m for the first player sent home. The prize amount is disbursed as so:

• First: $10m
• Second: $6m
• Third: $4m
• Fourth: $3m
• Fifth: $2.5m
• Sixth: $2m
• Seventh: $1.5m
• Eighth: $1.25m
• Ninth: $1m

The Main Event champion will also receive the 2024 Main Event gold bracelet, which was unveiled on July 8 inside Horseshoe Las Vegas by a Founding Father of the WSOP, Jack Binion. 

Daniel Weinman of Atlanta, Georgia won the 2023 WSOP Main Event and took home the bracelet and first-place cash prize.
