Missouri casinos generate $163m in May revenue
Revenue during the month was up compared to numbers posted in April.
The Missouri Gaming Commission has released its May results for the state’s casinos. The state is home to 13 riverboat casinos.
During May, the state’s casinos brought in a collective total of nearly $163m in adjusted gross revenue (AGR).
Last month’s results reflected an increase in revenue of 4.5% when compared to revenue reported from April and a 1.3% year-over-year boost.
Ameristar St. Charles took the win for the largest earnings for the month of May. The casino posted a total revenue of almost $25.3m, with slots contributing $20.6m and table games almost $4.9m.
River City followed close behind to grab the second-place spot in May. Its revenue for the month reached close to $21.5m.
River City barely beat out Hollywood to earn its rank at number two for the month, surpassing Hollywood’s revenue by more than $200,000.
Hollywood reported a may revenue of almost $21.3m.
The state has posted a year-to-date AGR of nearly $1.74bn. However, this year’s running total is down by 1.6% when compared to last year’s AGR total.
Missouri’s casinos contributed a combined total of $34.2m to the state in taxes.
In other state news, a Missouri appeals court recently upheld a decision that allows the state’s highway patrol to seize machines that offer cash prizes and violate state regulations, according to a Yahoo News report.
The decision to uphold the ruling was unanimous.
Torch Electronics had filed a lawsuit, asking the court of bar the Missouri State Highway Patrol from “seizing machines and seeking criminal charges.”
However, the court dismissed the litigation last fall.
