Through the deal, DraftKings will be permitted to use Pistons trademarks and logos. The US-based sports betting operator will also benefit from courtside LED signage and in-game basket pad branding.
The deal will also include DraftKings competitions for Pistons fans, through which participants will have the chance to win experiential prizes.
Commenting on the agreement, Ezra Kucharz, chief business officer of DraftKings, said: “As our first professional team activation in the state of Michigan, we are thrilled to join forces with the Detroit Pistons ahead of our pending market introduction.
“This deal deepens our relationship with a prominent local team to facilitate more immersive fan experiences, both for Michiganders familiar with regulated gaming products as well as newcomers to the space.”
DraftKings has formed the partnership ahead of its entry into the Michigan market, where it is planning to launch its mobile sports betting and online gaming soon. The launch is subject to licensure and the receipt of necessary regulatory approvals.
