The game will join BetMGM's online portfolio in Ontario, which includes over 2,500 games.

BetMGM has brought its online version of the land-based casino game Buffalo to its online portfolio in Ontario. BetMGM currently offers over 2,500 titles in the Canadian province, of which 250 were produced in-house by Entain.

Buffalo, originally designed as a land-based game by Aristocrat, was digitized by subsidiary Anaxi in September, with BetMGM launching the game in the same month in Pennsylvania. Anaxi then partnered with BetMGM in February to launch a wider range of its titles via BetMGM’s online channels.

We spoke with BetMGM’s VP of Gaming Angus Nisbet in the March/April edition of Gaming America on the initial launch of Buffalo online and the benefits of taking a well-known land-based slot online.

He said, “We work with Aristocrat and have a great relationship with them. We were proud to be the first online casino in the world to offer Buffalo when it went live in New Jersey. Now, it's live in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Ontario.

“Like I always say, if you're Apple or Nike, you don't put the new MacBook on discount... We were very careful to not over-promote Buffalo. We wouldn't say: ‘look here, $50 free for Buffalo,’ because why would you do that? The game is so strong, it stands up on its own.”

The full interview will be available in the upcoming March/April issue of Gambling Insider magazine.

On the launch in Ontario, BetMGM CRO Matt Prevost said, “BetMGM is proud to bring Buffalo to our Ontario players. It’s already a strong performer in the states and will be a big headliner at BetMGM Ontario, adding to a stellar collection of games.”

BetMGM was awarded ‘Digital Operator of the Year’ at the 2023 Global Gaming Awards Las Vegas.
