The World Lottery Association’s (WLA) Independent Assessment Panel (IAP) has issued the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) a Level 4 certification “for excellence in player health programming.” The organization has earned this certification five times in a row.
More specifically, BCLC gained recognition by the IAP for its Player Education program. The company earned a “Best Practice” outcome based on the IAP’s determination that the program is as “clearly beyond the norm” and contains “innovative policies, practices or evaluation measures.”
According to the IAP assessment, BCLC was also recognized for “various targeted initiatives and set of evaluation measures,” along with “ambitious plans moving forward.”
A Level 4 certification is the highest level a company can reach during the IAP’s assessment process.
BCLC Chief Compliance Officer and VP, Legal, Compliance and Security Marie-Noëlle Savoie described the re-certification as a win for the company.
She commented further by saying, “Receiving re-certification at Level 4 and the ‘Best Practice’ distinction is a strong endorsement of BCLC’s player-centric approach and evidence of the continuous improvement of our player health programs.
“The innovation and collaboration across the organization has enabled this significant achievement and is what will drive further advancements to these player health supports.”
The BCLC both conducts and manages bingo, casino and online gaming throughout the Canadian province of British Columbia.
Through its responsible gaming program, GameSense, the organization remains committed to encouraging safe gambling practices. The BCLC developed and licensed GameSense in 2017 and has partnered with MGM Resorts and BetMGM to help customers play responsibly.
