The overhaul includes a large variety of enhancements, ranging from new slot machines and table games, to upgraded bars and restaurants.

Delaware Park Casino and Racing recently showcased its $10m renovations; an architectural facelift it hopes will bring about an enhanced gaming experience for patrons.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the official unveiling of the revamped casino space, featuring guest speakers, mummer's performances and Vegas-style showgirls.

Delaware Park Casino President and General Manager Terry Glebocki commented: "It's hard to envision the transformation but it has been remarkable. There are some slot machines here you will find in very few places across the country."

This renovation comes on the heels of a difficult period for the region's industry. Over a decade ago, Delaware's casinos faced adversity due to regional competition and high tax rates.

Recent legislative support, however, eased the burden by offering reduced tax rates for casinos that continue to invest significantly in their facilities.

Jump forward to the present day and the rejuvenation of Delaware Park Casino, along with the state's other two casinos, signals a positive turn after grappling with financial challenges during the previous years.

The last fiscal year in particular proved to be a significant boon for the Delaware Lottery, inclusive of casino revenue.

Delaware Lottery Director Helene Keeley stated: "We are back without a doubt. We transferred $240m to the general fund, that's after expenses. That's pure profit to the state."

With this in mind, The Delaware Casino team hopes a corner has been turned and that this upward trend will continue in the years to come.
