A license would allow the company to partner with operators in the region.

Independent slots studio Thunderkick has announced plans to enter the Ontario market by attaining a license to operate within the jurisdiction.

This news follows on from last week’s announcement of the appointment of Svante Sahlström as CCO at Thunderkick, as part of its strategic plans for 2024, focusing on expansion and entry into regulated markets.

Recently, Thunderkick has expanded its presence in Europe through a partnership with Skywind Group in Romania and seen it enter the LatAm market with Rushbet

As well as Ontario, other markets such as Italy, Portugal and Sweden will be main focuses for Thunderkick in the coming months.

Ontario is being viewed by the slots studio as the first step in its long-term growth strategy which will see them introduce new game releases and commercial deals in 2024 and beyond. By obtaining a licence in the Canadian Province, Thunderkick would be able to partner with a range of operators in the region.

Thunderkick Chief Commercial Officer, Svante Sahlström, said: “Ontario is likely to be a significant strategic move for us this year, and I think we’ll also look back on it as an important marker in the company’s development in years to come.

“Thunderkick is compliance-ready and we’re confident we’ll soon be able to showcase our games to lots of new Canadian players. We have a strong long-term vision for expansion as a whole and are excited to follow those in the months to come.”
