MLB has partnered with Epic Global Solutions and Entain Foundation US as part of an initiative to prevent gambling harm among minor league players and personnel.
As part of the deal, the Entain Foundation US will offer financial support of the educational sessions to be delivered by Epic Global Solutions, among other contributions. Epic Global Solutions will use these contributions to host responsible gambling and mental health educational sessions, honing its message by highlighting the lived experiences of those who have suffered from the issue.
The collaboration with MLB is a part of Epic Global Solutions and Entain Foundation US’ collaborative public campaign for gambling harm awareness. Currently, Entain Foundation US sponsors a wide variety of programs that give similar awareness education to individuals in other fields, including professional athletes, collegiate athletes and coaches.
On the collaboration, Director of Sports Partnerships at Epic Global Solutions Ben McGregor said, “Working with such an iconic American institution provides a unique opportunity to not only help the players connected to every franchise but also the wider supporter base across the country, who can learn more about the potential effects of gambling harm through the increased profile this program will generate. We thank Major League Baseball and Entain Foundation US for providing this platform for wider awareness.”
Meanwhile, Entain SVP, American Regulatory Affairs and Responsible Gambling and Entain Foundation US Trustee Martin Lycka called the company “proud” of its collaboration on problem gaming prevention, adding, “We must take a preventative approach to gambling harm, particularly those involved in sports, so educating the baseball community on responsible gambling practices is a critical measure.”
The educational sessions are to be delivered to MLB teams in 2024 by Epic Global Solutions.
