Penn Entertainment will host a groundbreaking ceremony for the relocated Hollywood Casino Joliet tomorrow, replacing the company’s nearby riverboat casino.
Members of the Illionois Gaming Board, Illionois General Assembly, the Mayor of Joliet and the City Council, labor organizations and other local stakeholders have been invited to the ceremony by Penn.
The facility itself will feature around 850 slots and 44 live table games, which includes a baccarat room, a retail sportsbook, bars, restaurants, an event center with meeting areas and approximately 1,330 parking spaces.
Penn expects to create 450 construction jobs and 515 permanent jobs at the brand new facility.
The existing Hollywood Casino Joliet will continue as normal while construction takes place on the new facility, which will take around 24 months to complete.
CEO and President of Penn Entertainment, Jay Snowden, said: “We are very excited to be moving forward with construction on a new, state-of-the-art Hollywood Casino Joliet in an ideal location.
"Our close proximity to two interstates and surrounding mixed-use development will offer our modern facility with exceptional visibility and accessibility in the highly attractive Chicagoland market."
VP & GM of Hollywood Casino Joliet, Mike Thoma, added: "From our day-one team members to the hundreds of individuals that will be joining us in the months ahead, this is an incredibly exciting milestone for all of us with the property and local community.
"We can’t wait to provide our guests with an even greater customer experience at the future Hollywood Casino Joliet."
Yesterday, Penn Entertainment announced a groundbreaking ceremony for the second hotel tower at The M Resort in Las Vegas, which is expected to have 384 rooms added to the property, bringing its total to 774.
