Cordish’s Live! Casino Pittsburgh set to open ahead of Thanksgiving

The Cordish Companies is on track to open Live! Casino Pittsburgh on Nov. 24, days ahead of Thanksgiving.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place one week prior on Nov. 17. The casino is located at Westmoreland Mall in Pittsburgh’s southeast suburbs.

The two-story casino floor will include 750 slots and 30 table games as well as Pittsburgh’s first FanDuel sportsbook.

Dining establishments include sports restaurant Sports & Social Steel City, Guy Fieri’s American Kitchen + Bar and country-themed Professional Bull Rider Country Bar.

Live! Casino Pittsburgh will follow health protocols including mask requirements, temperature checks and social distancing.

Cordish is aggressively pursuing the Pennsylvania market with the opening of Live! Casino Pittsburgh and a casino in south Philadelphia adjacent to the town’s professional sports stadiums. The Philadelphia property is scheduled to open in 2021.

Cordish’s PlayLive! online casino for Pennsylvanians launched in August.

The location of Live! Casino Pittsburgh is a bit of an outlier for Cordish, which tries to build properties in walking distance from major sports stadiums and arenas. Pittsburgh’s downtown stadium district is about 40 miles away.

The company has properties in close proximity to the stadiums of the St. Louis Cardinals, Atlanta Braves, Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers.
