The Indiana Gaming Commission said the top sport for wagering in October was football, with bettors staking more than $87m. That figure was up sharply from the previous month, with $48m being wagered on football.

Sports bettors placed $26m in wagers on baseball in October, $10m on basketball and a total of $45m on all other sports.

Ameristar Casino had the largest handle in October with $97m, followed by Blue Chip Casino with $65m, Belterra Casino with $20m and Hollywood Lawrenceburg with $18m.

The Indiana Gaming Commission reported it collected more than $2m in sports wagering tax during October, part of $37m in total wagering taxes collected.
