CDI debuts new Rosie’s Emporium in Virginia

The company also donated $25,000 to local nonprofits.

CDI has opened its latest Rosie’s Emporium in Virginia. The new location sits at West Atlantic Street close to Interstate 95.

Rosie’s Emporium offers its guests 150 Historical Racing Machines (HRM), as well as access to simulcast racing, a bar and a restaurant.

In addition to the grand opening, the destination celebrated the “Rosie’s Gives Back” program, which donates $25,000 to five local charities.

Those that benefited from the company’s recent donation included the Family YMCA of Emporia/Greenville, Community Youth Center, Ltd, Emporia Greenville Recreation Association, Communities in Schools of Virginia and H.E.A.R Me Out Inc.

Company CEO Bill Carstanjen said regarding the recent debut, “This marks our seventh Rosie’s gaming property and adds to our tremendous success in Virginia, taking us to the Southern border of the state for the first time.

“The Emporia location builds on CDI’s commitment to providing top-quality jobs and generating significant tax revenues across the Commonwealth while delivering quality entertainment.”

CDI currently operates historical racing machines in Kentucky and was recently issued customary approving licenses by the Virginia Racing Commission, the New York State Gaming Commission and the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission.

The company recently completed its sale of a 326-acre property in Arlington Heights, Illinois to the Chicago Bears. Per the previously announced agreement from September 2021, the final purchase total came to $197.2m.

CDI said it will “apply the proceeds of the sale to the purchase of, and improvements to, real property previously acquired in connection with the Peninsula Pacific Gaming acquisition that closed in 2022.”
