Las Vegas is increasing security after several fights, shootings

The Fremont Street Experience in Downtown Las Vegas has installed a shooter localization system that can provide real-time information on a mass shooter to law enforcement and security personnel.
The move comes as the Las Vegas Strip has seen several fights and shootings in recent months, prompting casinos and Las Vegas Metro Police to increase security measures.
The system, known as Shotpoint, is a product from Databuoy Corp. The company said Shotpoint has the ability to secure both indoor and outdoor areas, track the trajectory of a bullet, and confirm a gunshot within a second.
The system was installed on the Fremont Street Experience Canopy, which has more than 20 million visitors each year. Shotpoint will cover the canopy from end-to-end and is integrated with the Fremont Street Experience Security office's video surveillance command center.
Fremont Street Experience Security works in coordination with the Downtown Casino Properties, the Las Vegas City Marshall's Department, and the Las Vegas Metro Police Department to secure the downtown corridor.
“We are very proud to be the solution that Fremont Street selected,” Kathleen Griggs, CEO of Databuoy, said in a statement. “Our mission is to lessen the threat of mass shootings and we are pleased to be working with these properties to make this a safer city for tourists and residents alike.”
“This is something that is absolutely needed in the world we live in today,” said Mark Reddon, Director of Security for the Fremont Street Experience. “We’ve got to know when shots are fired.”
