The bulk, naturally, came from slots and table games.

The Michigan Gaming Control Board has released its casino revenue numbers for August. The state’s three Detroit casinos brought in $104.9m in monthly aggregate revenue during the month.

Retail sports betting from all three casinos contributed $322,186 to the overall revenue total. The other $104.6m came from slots and table games.

In a breakdown of revenue by casino, MGM in Detroit chipped in 47% of the total August revenue, while MotorCity and Hollywood Casino at Greektown generated 30% and 23% respectively.

MGM brought in the largest revenue total for the month, generating $49.5m. MotorCity ended the month with $30.7m, and Hollywood Casino at Greektown raked in $24.4m in revenue, up by 11.7% year-over-year.

When compared to results from July, table games and slot revenue taxes fell by 2%. However, monthly revenue from August was slightly higher than the results from one year ago.

The Control Board’s report also reflected a slight boost in casino slot and table games revenue from the period ranging from the first of the year until August 31. Revenue during that period rose by 0.8% when compared to the same period in 2022.

All three casinos posted a total sports betting handle that reached $10m during the month of August. Total gross receipts for the month reached $327,291.

The three Detroit casinos paid a total of $8.47m in state taxes and submitted $16.5m to the city of Detroit in wagering taxes and development agreements.

During the month, Detroit’s casinos paid $12,179 to the state in gaming taxes and submitted $14,885 in wagering taxes to the city based on their combined retail sports betting revenue.
