The K1 Tower has facial recognition.

Knightscope, a developer of security robots and emergency communication systems has announced two new contracts with a Northern California casino.

The casino signed one agreement for a K1 Tower and signed a pre-order for two of the company’s K1 Hemisphere Autonomous Security Robots (ASRs).

Recently, Knightscope deployed two K1 Hemispheres in Hawaii to complete the final stage of testing.

The K1 Tower is a standstill indoor/outdoor ASR optimized for use at smaller locations where mobility is not necessarily required.

The K1 Tower operates 24/7 and has similar features to Knightscope’s mobile ASRs, with the added option of facial recognition. In the case of casinos, this could particularly be helpful to identify VIPs, advantage players and known trespassers/ self-excluded clientele.

Meanwhile, the K1 Hemisphere security camera is more compact and is ideal for the security of where people work, live, study and visit. The Hemisphere is also easily mounted to a variety of objects like poles, fences, buildings, walls, etc.

Last year, when speaking of a California casino that renewed its ASR for a third year, Knightscope stated: “This client originally deployed a K3 ASR following the onset of the pandemic. Once gaming establishments were approved to reopen, the K3 supplemented guard services at a time when filling certain rolls proved to be a challenge.

“As operations slowly returned to normal, Knightscope and its client worked closely together to examine the use cases in which ASRs were most beneficial and subsequently identified that a K1 ASR would better suit the long-term needs of the casino.

“This is a prime example of the emphasis Knightscope places on exemplary customer service and where having a suite of products addressing multiple applications gives clients the option to adapt to changing situations.”
