
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has reported its financial information for July 2023. The state's total combined revenue increased 9% in July to $467m year-on-year.
The keystone state’s combined revenue consists of all gaming revenue regulated by the PGCB which includes: slot machines, fantasy contests, table games, iGaming, sports wagering and video gaming terminals (VGTs).
Of the combined revenue, the most was brought in from retail slots, which reported a sum of $214.7m. That was followed by iGaming revenue that totalled $132.9m, up 35% from July 2022; however, retail tables saw a decrease of 4%.
VGTs brought in $3.4m, down 7%; sports wagering revenue made $35.4m, up 48%; meanwhile, fantasy contests are responsible for making the least amount of revenue across the verticals, garnering $655,885, a decrease of 24% from July 2022.
Of that iGaming revenue, $94.9m came from slots, an increase of 35% from last year. Table games from iGaming made $32.1m, up 26% and iPoker made $2.6m, down 5%.
The graph shows that retail slots garnered the most revenue in July 2023.
Out of all of the casinos, the Hollywood Casino at Penn National Racecourse brought in the most at $70.1m, up 26% from the previous year; it also saw the largest percentage increase year-on-year, when compared to the other casinos.
Meanwhile, the casino with the highest slot revenue in July was Parx Casino, with $33.3m, down 1% year-on-year. And the casino with the lowest slot revenue in July was Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin, with $1.9m, down 5%.
Wind Creek Bethlehem had the highest table games revenue in July 2023, with $23.7m, with no difference year-on-year. Parx Shippensburg had the lowest table games revenue in July, with $52,160.
Across the report, it is clear that iGaming is excelling in Pennsylvania, Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course saw a 41% increase in iGaming up to $54.4m when compared to last year’s figures. Harrah’s Philadelphia saw the highest percentage increase in iGaming revenue of 80% to $5.7m.
Moving over to sports betting, the casino with the highest sports wagering revenue was Valley Forge Casino Resort, with $13.7m, an increase of 12% annually. On the other hand, the casino with the lowest amount of sports wagering revenue in July was Presque Isle Downs and Casino, with $844, a significant drop from last year's figures of $229,536.
