If approved during the NGCB’s meeting on 22 October, the operator will operate the casino inside Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.
That will see it become the first Native American gaming tribe to operate a casino within the Las Vegas strip.
The property, formerly known as Hard Rock Las Vegas which closed in February for remodeling, is expected to reopen on January 15 next year, with the tribe to manage the 60,000-square foot casino, which includes 1,110 guest rooms, operated by Virgin Hotels.
It is also expected that the casino will not include a poker room, and the planned sportsbook is to be operated by Betfred USA Sports, who are currently undergoing the licensing process.
NGCB chairwoman Sandra Douglass Morgan, stated that the Mohegan Tribe do no have to sign a tribal gaming compact with Nevada to operate the casino, as it’s managing the property from another company.
The move will see the business division of the Connecticut based Mohegan Tribe expand its operations, currently operating casinos in its home state, as well as Pennsylvania, Washington, Louisiana and Atlantic City in the US, and Niagara Falls in Canada.
