Maurice Wooden appointed as Fertitta’s President of Luxury Hotel Development

The former Golden Nugget President and COO of Hospitality for Wynn has 36 years' experience.

Fertitta Entertainment, Tilman Fertitta’s holding company with gaming, restaurant, hospitality and entertainment sectors, has announced Maurice Wooden as President of Luxury Hotel Development. Wooden will lead development of all of Fertitta Entertainment’s resorts.

Tilman Fertitta, Owner and CEO of Fertitta Entertainment spoke highly of Wooden as an addition to the company. He said, “With more than 36 years of experience, Maurice is a seasoned veteran who is well known and respected throughout the hospitality and gaming industry.

“We look forward to having him lead the growth and development of our luxury hotel division.”

Wood has previously been on the Boards of both Wynn Macau and the Las Vegas Convention Authority, as well as served as Vice Chairman of Las Vegas Events. He started his career in the resort and casino industry as a supervisor at Golden Nugget in 1987.

Eventually serving as President of Golden Nugget Las Vegas, Wooden also then became as President and COO of Hospitality for Wynn and Encore Las Vegas locations.

Two months ago, Fertitta Entertainment acquired Hard Rock Lake Tahoe from Paragon Gaming, with plans to transform it into another Golden Nugget location. The brand also owns two Forbes five-star rated hotels, The Post Oak Hotel at Uptown Houston and Montage Laguna Beach Resort Hotel.

Wooden commented, “I am excited to join the esteemed Fertitta Entertainment empire. Their team is passionate about delivering the very best and I look forward to bringing my expertise to the company and delivering an extraordinary product with exceptional consumer experiences.”
