Sands Cares will continue to aid ACDC's HAPI Medical Center and API Language Link.

Las Vegas Sands (Sands) has donated $175,000 to Nevada’s Asian Community Development Council (ACDC), as part of Sands Cares’ partnership that aids the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community in Southern Nevada. May is AAPI Heritage Month.

This donation will support both the Healthy Asians & Pacific Islanders (HAPI) Medical Center and the API Language Link, which provide important health and language services. API Language Link alone offers support and translation in 10 languages.

The medical center, which Sands’ funding helped to open in September 2022, also offers a 100% bilingual staff to its community. In 2021 Sands also helped to create the API language link and its connections to social services.

Sands' 2023 funding will help the center with healthcare events related to medical services like mammograms, chronic disease management, preventative care and vaccinations, as well as dental services. The ACDC will also use the funding to hire more language specialists to help with both these initiatives and a community food distribution warehouse in Reno.

Sands’ support in 2022 allowed the center to: offer free care to patients in January and February, enroll patients in a financial scholarship program and host 19 vaccine clinics.

Vida Lin, Founder and President of ACDC, said, “The support we have received from Sands Cares has made possible two tremendous service expansions. Language should never present a barrier to receiving care. Sands' partnership is helping us make vital connections to ensure the well-being of the diverse AAPI communities we serve."

Ron Reese, Sands’ SVP of Global Communications and Corporate Affairs, "ACDC is improving lives daily, while advancing the long-term health and well-being of the AAPI community. Not only are we committed to being an ally for the AAPI community – we believe in ACDC's ability to provide leadership in addressing the diverse needs of the many populations it serves."
