New Jersey sports betting revenue up over 40% to $72.3m for April

New Jersey’s Division of Gaming Enforcement has released its April figures for Atlantic City’s nine casinos, iGaming and sports betting. Garden State ‘casino win’ dropped 1.6% to $231.5m, but other metrics were up, with total gaming revenue reaching $462.7m for the month.
Of the casino win, slot machines proved to be more popular than table games, coming in at $169.7m, or 73.3% of total casino win. This represents a slight decrease from the previous year; however, where slot machines generated $175.2m.
The New Jersey casino operator with the highest individual win was MGM’s Borgata, with $58.1m, although this was still down 5.7% from April last year; it also led iGaming with $43.2m. Hard Rock generated $38.8m in casino win (also down from $40.6m). Ocean Casino saw the highest increase of 30.3% to $34.2m.
Though the month of April had a slightly lower casino win, the year-to-date figures had risen 4.6% to reach $886.8m. However, New Jersey’s iGaming win grew 16.1%, for a total of $158.9m.
The largest increase was an impressive 43.6% in the state’s sports wagering figures reported by casinos, racetracks and sports betting partners. April revenue reached $72.3m, while year-to-date revenue also increased 40.6% to reach $292.3m. Sports betting’s highest April revenue by an individual operator, $20.2m, came from Resorts Digital.
April’s sports betting handle totalled $834m, with $798.4m of that figure coming from online wagering. April’s handle makes up 22% of the year-to-date handle.
Completed events in sports wagering categories with the most win this year were parlay bets, followed by basketball bets.
This makes casino gaming 50% of the state’s total April gaming revenue, with iGaming making up 34.3% and sports wagering seemingly catching up at 15.6% of the month’s total. Year-to-date figures have risen 12.4% to a total of $1.8bn.
