Both the basketball player and ESPN's Gordon Damer will be at a Mohegan Sun event on April 1 before the March Madness Final Four games.

Former professional basketball player, Charlie Villanueva, will join Mohegan’s iGaming platform, MoheganSunCasino.com, for an event hosted on Saturday at the Mohegan Sun Casino sportsbook in Montville, Connecticut. Villanueva played college ball for University of Connecticut, and then went on to play 11 seasons with the pros.

The 6 foot-11-inch power forward played for UConn during 2004’s national title, where he was voted team MVP for that year’s March Madness games. He was drafted into the NBA at 20 years old and has played for the Toronto Raptors, the Milwaukee Bucks, the Detroit Pistons and the Dallas Mavericks.

MoheganSunCasino.com and its smartphone app were launched by Mohegan Digital in 2021 for Connecticut’s iGaming market. The platform offers hundreds of online casino games including slots, table games, video poker, slingo and more.

The Connecticut resort and casino, owned and operated by the Mohegan Tribe, features an 11,000 square-foot Mohegan Sun FanDuel Sportsbook with a 140-foot video wall and 39 betting kiosks. Mohegan says the event is made possible by its partnership with FanDuel.

The meet and greet event with Villanueva will run from 5:15pm – 6:15pm, while ESPN sports anchor and talk show host, Gordon Damer, will be broadcasting live from 3:00pm-6:00pm. The NCAA March Madness Final Four semi-final games will be shown later in the night, with Florida Atlantic University playing San Diego State at 6:09pm and University of Connecticut playing University of Miami at 8:49pm.

In honor of Villanueva’s alma mater, UConn, the beer special served at the sportsbook’s event will be ‘Two Conn’ Easy Ale by local brewery, Two Roads.
