A combined total of $456.8m was generated by all forms of gaming in the state of Pennsylvania, including fantasy contests, for February. Regulated forms of gambling revenue in the Keystone State are: table games, slot machines, iGaming, sports wagering and videogaming terminals (VGTs).
The Hollywood Casino at Penn National brought in the highest casino revenue of $72.5m, a 21.9% increase from February the previous year. However, the casino with the biggest revenue jump was Hollywood Casino at the Meadows, with a 124.1% increase to $26.5m.
Parx Shippensburg, with a grand opening on February 3, brought in a total of $3.2m in its first operating month. The brand-new facility ranks above Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin’s February revenue of $1.6m, which was down 19.8%.
When dividing revenue by game type, Pennsylvania saw the most impressive rise in sports wagering, with bets up 9,861% from February 2022. The total sports wagering revenue reached $43.2m, while last year it stalled at -$442,947.
The state’s total handle was $599.5m. Valley Forge Casino Resort holds the highest individual operator’s total sports betting handle of $235.2m, with revenue of $23.5m.
The casino with the highest slot machine revenue was Parx Casino, totalling $30.7m for the month; however, that is still a dip of 9.4% from its figures last February. Parx Casino also had the highest table game revenue, bringing in $17m, up 8.3% from last year.
The type of game to experience the biggest loss between February 2022 and February 2023 was fantasy contests, with a drop in revenue of 16.3%, totalling $1.3m for February 2023. iGaming poker was also down 7.8%, bringing in $2.7m.
February’s numbers demonstrate overall sustainable, as well as record, growth for the Keystone State gaming industry.
