The Mississippi Band of the Tribe is adding a restaurant and a larger sports betting area to the venue.

The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians is expanding its Bok Hama casino in the southeast region of the Magnolia State. The expansion will include a 60-seat restaurant and a larger sports betting area.

Tribal officials say that this expansion will pave the way for more slot machines and increased capacity for office space. Bok Homa Director of Operations Michelle York stated that she hoped construction efforts would be completed by December this year.

The new restaurant will be called Red Creek, which is the literal English translation of Bok Homa. The casino opened 12 years ago, just northeast of Laurel. It has about 700 slot machines, eight table games and can host 1,000 to 3,000 customers a day.

The main branch of the Choctaw Tribe owns and operates seven Native American casinos and hotels located in Oklahoma, with the original casino having opened in Durant in 2006.

The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians is an offshoot of the Tribe that operates three gaming and hotel establishments under the Pear River Resort brand. This includes the twin Silver Star and Golden Moon casinos at Pearl River in Neshoba County.

Unlike these other two casinos, Bok Homa does not currently have an onsite hotel and York believes its addition would increase footfall greatly.

Choctaw Casinos & Resorts recently celebrated seven female associates for International Women’s Day on March 8. The Tribe emphasized that these seven women had initiated change in their respective communities and workplaces, and had done so for decades.

For instance, Senior Director of Commerce Janie Dillard, planted her roots in the gaming industry in 1987. She worked as floor manager before being speedily promoted to director of Choctaw’s first bingo destination in southeastern Oklahoma.
