The Nevada Gaming Control Board has released its January 2023 monthly gaming results. The state posted $1.27bn in revenue for the month, reflecting an 18% increase year-over-year.
January marks the 23rd consecutive month that Nevada has yielded at least $1bn in revenue. During this time last year, the state still had Covid-19 restrictions in place, a factor that has contributed to the spike in activity this year.
In breakdown of the monthly revenue based on specific games, slot machines contributed to $847m of the state’s total in January. Table, counter and card games added $425m to January’s revenue total. Increases when compared to last year’s numbers grew by 16% and 23% respectively.
Revenue generated from the Las Vegas Strip increased year-over-year as well. The Strip raked in $763.5m in revenue in January, a 15% boost when compared to 2022’s corresponding month.
Downtown Vegas saw a 24% rise in its revenue during the month of January, with its total reaching $83.9m. Douglas County South Shore Lake Tahoe Area reported a similar trend in its year-over-year revenue rise. The area reported $19.8m in revenue.
However, not every section of the state saw growth in January. Both Washoe County Reno Area and Washoe County North Shore Lake Tahoe Area saw declines in revenue, reflecting decreases of 20% and 14% respectively.
Washoe County Reno brough in $42.5m in revenue during January, while Washoe County North Shore Lake Tahoe posted a revenue total of $1.9m.
