The Pro League Network (PLN), a sports betting data and streaming rightsholder, will be hosting its inaugural World Putting League for the world’s best mini golf putters from 27-28 February.
The World Putting League Championship will be livestreamed on TheWorldPuttingLeague.com and WPL social channels and will be available for wagering via BetFred and DraftKings. It will be hosted at the Hawaiian Rumble MInigolf in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
This will mark the first time professional mini golf will be made available for betting on a live broadcast. This broadcast will feature PGA Tour Radio Host Brian Katrek, PLN Picks host and volleyball player Kaz Brown and golf influencers ‘The Bogey Bois’.
The two qualifying rounds will commence at 11:30AM ET on 27 February and will involve 26 of the world’s greatest mini-golfers competing to advance to the second day. Only eight players will make it through to the next stage on 28 February, where they will compete in a match-play bracket for the Championship. The victor will win $5,000.
PLN founders Mike Salvaris and Bill Yucatonis commented: “Everyone has fond memories of playing mini golf at some point in their lives. We’re excited to build off that positive sentiment and introduce a highly professionalized championship tournament.
“The World Putting League will showcase the incredible athletic ability of the U.S. ProMini Golf Association athletes to new audiences through a high-quality, professional broadcast, technology-integrated scoring system and the ability for fans to wager on the tournament.
“The combination of people’s fun experiences playing mini golf, the viral, visual nature of the sport and the accessibility of wagering will appeal to a new generation of fans.”
Fans can wager on an assortment of bet types including golfers’ over/under in each round, top eight finishes, outright winner and the over/under total holes in one for individual golfers, among other bets.
