The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has announced total gaming revenue of $464.5m for January, which represents an 18% year-over-year increase. This figure was gathered from all forms of gambling, including iGaming revenue (with Pennsylvania being one of only six states to offer this type of betting).
Of the state’s brick-and-mortar casinos, Hollywood Casino at Penn National generated the most revenue, reporting a total of $71.8m for January 2023 – an annual increase of 25.4%. Valley Forge Casino Resort came in second for revenue accumulated, with $67.8m, which was another large double-digit rise of 33.2%.
The biggest hike in revenue came from Hollywood Casino at the Meadows which soared 80% year-over-year to hit $8m in revenue. Only two of the Keystone States casinos reported declines; these were the Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin and Presque Isle Downs and Casino.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, retail slots gaming revenue was the main revenue generator for Pennsylvania, hauling $202.2m in January 2023 – a 20% annual increase. The most lucrative casino for retail slots was Parx Casino, which made $32.6m, a 12.8% improvement on its January 2022 revenue of $28m.
Meanwhile, iGaming slots also performed very strongly, increasing by 26% to make a grand total of $90.2m. When combined with iGaming Tables revenue ($40m) and iGaming poker revenue ($2.9m) one can see just how important this form of gambling is to the Pennsylvanian gaming industry.
Table games also performed well, producing $83.9m, which represented a 7.3% increase from January 2022 when revenue was reported at $78.2m. Wind Creek Bethlehem was the most valuable player in this department, generating $19.8m for January; a 6% increase.
