Intralot, a US subsidiary of Intralot S.A, has appointed Nikolaos Nikolakopoulos in the role of CEO. He will step down from his current roles of board member and Deputy CEO so that he can fully focus on his new position in the US.
Nikolakopoulos will assume his duties in the Atlanta office and will begin his position “upon fulfillment of all related legal requirements.”
Nikolakopoulos has served the company since 2007. During 2019, he took on his previous role as the group’s Deputy CEO and joined the company’s Board of Directors as Chairman in May 2022.
During his time with Intralot, he has filled leadership roles as both the company’s Group Chief Commercial Officer and Group Chief Operations Officer.
Group Chairman and CEO Sokratis Kokkalis took a moment to thank outgoing CEO Byron Boothe for his service to the company, and said he wishes Nikolakopoulos “every success in his new role.”
He went on to add that Boothe will stay on the company’s Board of Directors as a member and as a management advisor.
Intralot and the Ohio Lottery Commission recently signed a deal that will open the state to Intralot’s Orion Sportsbook. The state opened its market for regulated sports betting on January 1.
Under the terms of the five-year agreement, Intralot will “utilize current lottery equipment and infrastructure to facilitate the sports betting journey for retailers and customers” in the Buckeye State.
Currently, the company holds a provisional license issued by the Ohio Casino Control Commission, which enables it to operate under the agreement with the state lottery.
